The King of Parodies Michael V has dropped a parody of Sunkissed Lola’s charttopping “Pasilyo” titled “Sipilyo” by ”Sang Kiss Muna.’
The music video on the latest episode of variety show Bubble Gang features Michael V as a wedding singer singing about a bride with yellowed teeth. Instead of the original song’s lyrics Ikaw at ikaw, the comedian sings Dilaw na dilaw. In response to the segment, Sunkissed Lola wrote on their Facebook page, “Dilaw na dilaaaaw! Grabe, maraming salamat sir Michael V.! What a great honor! [So yellow! Wow, thank you so much Sir Michael V! What a great honor!].”
Most recently, “Pasilyo” was announced to be the country’s most streamed song in 2023, according to Spotify Philippines’ Wrapped. Despite being released in 2022, the track garnered over 160 million streams this year. Additionally, the band garnered 174.2 million streams from over 14 million listeners in 183 countries around the world. The track bested Dilaw’s “Uhaw (Tayong Lahat),” Janine Berdin and Adie’s collaboration on “Mahika,” Calein’s “Umaasa,” and Lola Amour’s “Raining in Manila,” to name a few.
“Pasilyo” was also one of the four Filipino acts to break into the year-end Top 10 list of Billboard’s Philippines Songs Charts (under their Hits of the World Category), alongside “Mahika” and “Uhaw.” Sunkissed Lola’s song ranked third in the overall list.
Recently, Michael V created a parody of Lola Amour’s “Raining in Manila” as ‘Lolo Kanor,’ and has since been officially released by the band. Michael V also joined Lola Amour’s “Raining in Manila” tour finale to perform as the persona.
