When Norwegian pop duo M2M made their monumental four-day stop across the Philippines, they weren’t expecting to see a legion of fans on the other side of the world filling their concerts, singing and screaming along to their songs.

In 2025, the duo reunited and embarked on their ‘The Better Endings’ Tour to give longtime listeners some closure after their sudden disbandment in 2002. However, it was seeing fans around the globe light up their shows that ultimately made the two realize there was much more to be done. Thus, what was meant to be a better ending for Marit Larsen and Marion Raven ended up being a new beginning.

In this exclusive interview with Billboard Philippines, the two recount their experience performing for Filipinos, their growth as artists, and what their upcoming ‘TWO’ tour means for both of them.

Billboard Philippines: How do you feel about returning to the Philippines next year?

Marion: We are really excited. We’re so happy we get to come back and play a big concert again because we had an amazing time in Manila. So yeah, we can’t wait.

Billboard Philippines: You made four stops around the country last year. What was it like performing for Filipino audiences?

Marion: I think Filipinos really stand out because they’re really great singers, and they sing really [loudly] and know all the songs.

Marit: And all the words.

Marion: And [so] much energy. You know, like, I feel like most Filipinos are not that shy. You know, they [were] dancing, singing, screaming. Yeah, so it [was] definitely an amazing audience.

Billboard Philippines: Were there any memorable moments that you recall?

Marion: Well, we walked on stage for the first time at the Araneta Coliseum, where [there were] ten thousand people. We never had our own M2M concert for that many people. And just walking on stage, hearing them scream, I could just feel it. It was…

Marit: (Laughs) It was physical.

Marion: Yeah, it was a physical scream. It was like a that came at you. I’ll never forget that.

Marit: But it felt like a huge professional choir, and people knew every ad lib, from the first to the last song. It was so amazing. So much love in that room — and two full nights!

Marion: Yeah, so we hope that people want to come see us again. And maybe the people [who] didn’t get tickets last time can get tickets this time.

Billboard Philippines: The Better Endings Tour last year was a very memorable and emotional moment for you and your fans. What led you to decide to keep things going, especially with this tour?

Marit: I think we both knew right after the last show. Like, yes, this was a better ending, indeed, but it did feel like a new beginning, as well. I think [it was] reconnecting with each other on stage, getting to fulfill that dream of doing that tour we hadn’t gotten to do as teenagers, and also realizing how many people were actually in our audience [on] the other side of the world. We had no idea. Beautiful fans have kept these songs alive, something we wrote many years ago.

[It was] also realizing there were things in the set that were missing, that we wanted to write, so we are going to be playing a few brand new songs as well for this round. That is part of our new beginning. It’s the mission we’re on.

Billboard Philippines: What message do you have for Filipino fans?

Marion: We just want to say thank you for keeping our music alive for 23 years, for coming to our concert, singing our songs, and making us feel really welcome. We just really love coming to the Philippines.

Marit: And we can’t believe we get to come back this soon. I mean, we had the time of our lives. And the fact that we got invited back this soon is a dream.

Billboard Philippines: Alongside the Better Endings Tour, you also released Still in My Dreams, where you re-recorded your greatest hits. What was it like revisiting these tracks?

Marion: It was actually really good for us to go back into the studio after 23 years and our old songs, and really think about the melodies, the lyrics, and why we [made] the choices we did. So it felt really good that before we went on tour, we did that.

Marit: It was like a housewarming party. We hadn’t really played these songs in a really long time, but it did feel like second nature. I feel like also just singing together again and rediscovering that blend that we have – that is like the instant sound of M2M. It was so much fun artistically, as well.

Billboard Philippines: The 2025 versions are more laid-back but also more authentic in a way. Could you describe how you’ve evolved as solo artists and as M2M?

Marit: Well, we’re inspired by different things. We have a lot of mutual inspirations, but we’re also wildly different people and artists, so it was really fun to peel back all the layers – you know, the ’90s kind of aesthetic – and mix it with things that we listen to now. Like: “What would Chappell Roan do with this song?” Or even taking it back to a ’70s vibe. That [Still in My Dreams] in particular was meant to be acoustic.

Marion: It’s also nice to see how me and Marit are so different, and that’s what makes M2M actually. We’re so different when we come together — that’s the M2M sound. It’s hard to explain, but I think when we were young, we realized that was our superpower.

Billboard Philippines: I know it’s soon, but do you foresee many more tours and concerts in the future?

Marion: Well, we’re taking one thing at a time, so we don’t really know. We just know that we’re going to play all [out] next year, and we don’t know if that’ll be the last time or if we’ll do it more. I think we have to take one thing at a time and see how we feel about it.
