P-pop Kings SB19 have officially clinched the title of the Wish Group of the Year award at the 2024 edition of the Wish Music Awards.
The boy group bested fellow nominees Lola Amour, Munimuni, and The Juans for the coveted title. In this year’s awards ceremony, SB19 also won Wishclusive R&B Performance of the Year with “I WANT YOU” and Wishclusive Pop Performance of the Year for “GENTO”. The winners of each category will receive a Wish Music Awards trophy, P25,000 cash prize, and a P100,000 donation to a charitable organization of their choice.
Last year, the quintet performed at the recently-concluded Asia Artist Awards held at the Philippine Arena on December 14. They performed a medley of some of their biggest hits, and to the surprise of all attendees, they were also joined by Japanese and South Korean boyband &TEAM during their performance of “GENTO.” SB19 also went home that night with the AAA Hot Trend Award.
Last year, Billboard Philippines ranked every SB19 song released thus far. In our review for our second top song, “I WANT YOU,” we wrote, ““I WANT YOU” comes as a complete surprise in the group’s discography thus far. They take their first step into R&B elements instead of a more pop sound — not to mention the more mature and sultry lyrics. Typically, when SB19 makes slower songs, they become full-blown ballads. “I WANT YOU” is the stellar middle ground. SB19 should explore the R&B sound more, because this song shows that they can pull it off.”
