Following Paramore‘s announcement as part of the project, A24, the renowned independent film company, has officially unveiled its latest musical venture with the announcement of Everyone’s Getting Involved: A Tribute to Talking Heads’ Stop Making Sense.
This eagerly anticipated covers compilation pays homage to Talking Heads’ iconic 1984 concert film and corresponding live album, with the upcoming 16-song LP faithfully mirroring the original track list and features stellar recordings by a diverse lineup of artists. The complete lineup includes The National, Lorde, Miley Cyrus, Toro Y Moi, Kevin Abstract, The Linda Lindas, BadBadNotGood, Girl in Red, Teezo Touchdown, Blondshell, The Cavemen, Chicano Batman featuring Money Mark, DJ Tunez, El Mató a un Policía Motorizado, and Jean Dawson.
Paramore was the first to join the star-studded lineup, contributing their rendition of “Burning Down the House,” a track that was released earlier this week and is now available for streaming. A humorous teaser preceded the announcement, showcasing Paramore vocalist Hayley Williams receiving a colossal package resembling David Byrne’s distinctive oversized suit from Stop Making Sense. The clip amusingly concludes with a snippet of Paramore’s energetic performance of “Burning Down the House.” Despite the excitement surrounding the project, a release date for Everyone’s Getting Involved is yet to be revealed.
This tribute compilation coincides with A24’s recent re-release of Jonathan Demme’s groundbreaking concert film, Stop Making Sense. Shot over three nights at Hollywood’s Pantages Theater in December 1983, the film continues to captivate audiences. A24 has initiated a new wave of theatrical screenings in major cities such as Chicago, London, Los Angeles, New York, and San Francisco, further solidifying the enduring cultural impact of the concert film. Though the New York-based entertainment company is renowned worldwide for its independent films, A24 Music serves as its record imprint which is primarily used for soundtrack releases.
