As part of the local run of Women In Music, Billboard Philippines presents People’s Choice, a fan-voted category that honors the brightest stars in the music industry, blazing the way for young women everywhere.

The poll opens today (February 29) and will run until March 20, 11:59 PM Philippine time. The nominee with the most number of votes will be awarded at the Billboard Philippines’ Women in Music event this March.

Morissette

Two words: Asia’s Phoenix. Morrissette Amon, also known by her mononym Morrissette, has made her mark in the Filipino music industry for nearly 15 years. Her vocal prowess is nothing short of breathtaking, and it’s no question that her hits like “Gusto Ko Nang Bumitaw” (I Want To Let Go) and her renditions of songs like “Nothing’s Gonna Stop Us Now” and “Akin Ka Na Lang” (Just Be Mine Instead). She has shown no signs of slowing down over the years, and most recently, she released her twin singles, “Ang Paghuwat” (The Wait) and “Wishing Well.”

Armi Millare

If there’s any woman who defined the 2000s indie scene, it has to be Armi Millare. As a fierce singer-songwriter, she has penned some of the most memorable lyrics in Filipino music. Who could ever forget the heartbreak of “Tadhana” (Fate), “Indak,” (Dance), or “Oo?” (Yes) Until now, as she gears up for her debut solo album, she continues to show that her craft and talent have only grown over the years.

Nadine Lustre

Nadine Lustre, performing as her mononym Nadine, has always been a force to be reckoned with. The actress-turned-singer charted her own path away from the traditional celebrity route and found her sound in alt-pop and R&B. Take for example “Overgrown,” where she pours her heart out in song and lays it on top of dreamy pop elements and a hip-hop trap beat. This genre-bending artist is committed to taking control over her narrative, and we’re here to celebrate that.

Yeng Constantino

The Philippines’ very own pop rock queen Yeng Constantino is no stranger to making timeless hits. Whether it was the era of Myx’s Daily Top 10 or today’s digital world, almost everyone can attest to her talent for making some of the most catchiest and viral songs before the concept of “viral” was even a thing.

KZ Tandingan

“Asia’s Soul Supreme” KZ Tandingan is one of our homegrown talents that have brought pride to the Philippines in the global arena — I mean, you don’t get a moniker like that without carving out your own spot in the international music industry. It’s no understatement to say that her impact has been felt throughout all these years, with multi million streams a piece more than 10 songs over the duration of her career.

Barbie Almalbis

Barbie Almalbis doesn’t age. That’s just a fact of life. The singer-songwriter slash frontwoman is hailed as one of the greatest Filipina guitarists, and for good reason. Whether it’s her solo work or music from the Hungry Young Poets and Barbie’s Cradle days, you just know a Barbie song when you hear it. Her voice is wholly unique in the industry, her guitar work some of the most impressive in the country, and melodies so memorable that you can’t help but feel nostalgic for.
