As Billboard Philippines brings in the country’s first-ever Women In Music, we’re recognizing and celebrating all these extraordinary women that have shaped the music industry.
For its first run in the Philippines, Billboard Philippines are awarding six women that exemplify true musical excellence, from dominating music charts to taking over a live stage to inspiring a new generation of performers. These awards — Women of the Year, Icon, Powerhouse, Hitmaker, Rising Star, and Rulebreaker — see honorees whose artistry knows no bounds and that continue to be an influential force in Filipino music.
However, we know that the industry is made up of more incredible women who are changing the music scene in their own distinct ways. These artists have continued to rise above the norm, redefining what it means to be an artist time and time again. They sell out shows, staging unforgettable performances and showcasing incomparable musicality. They create chart-topping hits that resonate with an entire nation. They showcase true Filipina courage, resilience, and talent.
So, as part of Women In Music, Billboard Philippines presents People’s Choice, a fan-voted category that features the brightest trailblazers in Filipino music. Voted on by the very people they inspire, these women have carved out an immovable place in music with their awe-inspiring vocals, enticing stage presence, command of streaming platforms, and creative versatility.
Presented by Y.O.U Beauty, the winner of People’s Choice will be revealed and awarded at Billboard Philippines’ Women In Music event happening this March.
Women In Music is a long-standing awards ceremony that honors the significant influence and contributions of women in the world of music. Since its conception in 2007, the event — powered by Billboard — has awarded the likes of Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, Madonna, Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish, SZA, and more.
As Billboard Philippines continues to connect Filipino music and the world, the inaugural run of the local edition of Women In Music is dedicated to amplifying the voices and spotlighting the talents of exceptional Filipinas — past, present, and future. This event comes after Billboard Philippines chose Sarah Geronimo to accept the Global Force award at the US’ Women In Music, making history as the first Filipina awardee at the internationally recognized event.
