In celebration of International Women’s Month, Billboard Philippines is hosting the country’s first-ever Women In Music awards.

Women In Music is a globally recognized awards ceremony that celebrates the achievements and contributions of women in the music industry. Happening this March in the Philippines, the local edition, which mirrors the US-based iteration of the event will be honoring the most influential women in Filipino music — past, present, and future — through a series of awards that shine a light on their impact and the integral role they play for the industry.

From being a rule breaker who paves her own way to being a powerhouse on a stage to hitmakers who have shaped Filipino culture, Billboard Philippines have put together a lineup of awardees that truly exemplify what it means to be a trail-blazing Filipina in the world of music. Beyond these set of honorees, the Philippines’ Women In Music will also feature categories where fans can vote on the artists they think are making waves in the industry.

Through Women In Music — set to be the country sole awards show dedicated to celebrating Filipina artists, Billboard Philippines — with its local presence and global influence — is honoring and championing the diversity and artistry of women in Philippine music and spotlighting their tremendous achievements.

More details will be announced soon, watch this space for updates.

This announcement comes after it was revealed that Sarah Geronimo will be the first-ever homegrown Filipina artist to ever be awarded at the US’ Women In Music. Chosen by Billboard Philippines, the iconic pop star will be given the Global Force award, alongside Brazil’s Luíza Sonza and Italy’s Annalisa during the awards show in Los Angeles, California. Establishing Women In Music awards in the Philippines and bringing Sarah Geronimo to its global edition comes as part of Billboard Philippines’ continuous mission to connect Filipino music to the world.

Since its conceptualization in 2007, Billboard‘s Women In Music has spotlighted artists like Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, Madonna, TWICE, Ariana Grande, SZA, Olivia Rodrigo, and more for their artistic calibre and contribution to the music industry.
