This March, Billboard Philippines is bringing the first-ever local run of Women In Music, a prestigious event that celebrates extraordinary women and their significant contributions to the music industry. Through this event, we shine a light on these artists that are not only changing the landscape of Filipino music but also inspiring young women across the country. Through their music and art, they have challenged expectations and defined what it means to be a Filipina.
While Billboard Philippines has selected six awardees to honor for their artistry, we recognize that the story of women in Filipino music cannot be told through just these artists. So, we’re giving the power to the listeners, the very people who has been influenced and moved by their music.
As part of Women In Music, Billboard Philippines presents Listeners’ Choice, a fan-voted category that shines a light on the biggest chart-topping hit and fan favorite anthem making waves across the country. This is the song that’s played all over the radio and social media feeds. It rings in your head, powering you to your feet to dance your heart out. You sing along right from the very moment it plays and belt out its lyrics as if the words came from your very own heart.
Fans will be able to vote on their favorite songs and the winner will be revealed and awarded during Billboard Philippines’ Women In Music event happening this March.
Women In Music is an internationally recognized awards ceremony that honors the significant influence and contributions of women in the music industry. Since 2007, Billboard‘s Women In Music has awarded the likes of Taylor Swift, Beyoncé, Madonna, Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish, SZA, and more. The event not only spotlights music’s biggest artists but also makes way for change in the industry, inspiring better diversity and inclusivity across the world.
The first-ever Philippine run of Women In Music will be happening this March, as part of Billboard Philippines‘ ongoing mission to connect Filipino music and the world. The event will award and honor six women who have forged their own path in Filipino and influenced a whole generation of performers, as well as recognize artists who have resonated with the country.
The event’s announcement comes after Billboard Philippines chose Sarah Geronimo to receive the Global Force at this year’s Women In Music, happening in Los Angeles, California. This makes the iconic pop star the first-ever homegrown Filipina to ever win an award at the internationally recognized event.
