Billboard Philippines maiden cover star Regine Velasquez-Alcasid joins the inaugural episode of Billboard Philippines Studios. The show features the country’s celebrated artists performing new versions of their iconic hits.
Velasquez-Alcasid performed exclusive stripped-down, piano-only renditions of “Araw Gabi” (Day and Night), “Hinahanap Hanap Kita,” (Looking For You) and “Dadalhin” (Bring).
“These live performances delve deeper into the artist’s style and music, creating a more intimate connection. The contemporary approach to the look, thoughtfully curated with the integration of recording studios’ sound diffusers, immerses the audience to an atmosphere home to recording artists,” associate producer Matthew Ong explains.
Studios is one of the flagship programs of the brand’s media channels. The other programs include Soundwave, a TikTok-exclusive performance show featuring the chart-topping tracks in the country and Volumes, a podcast that uncovers the stories behind the artists.
“[We] aim to help elevate local acts through various platforms. Aside from articles and features in the magazine, we also wanted to give these artists a platform to be heard. Many Filipino musicians are now gaining global recognition, and we want to create a space where you can discover and rediscover both established and up-and-coming artists. The Media Channels is that platform,” executive producer Paolo Valenciano shares.
The first episode of Soundwave premiered last Monday (October 16), featuring SB19 performing “GENTO.” On the other hand, the first episode of Volumes featuring Ena Mori went live on Wednesday of the same week.
