Over the past few weeks, Juan Karlos has been breaking record after record with the widespread success of “ERE”. Just yesterday (October 18), the singer-songwriter topped the Billboard Philippines Songs charts, breaking the all-time single-day stream record in the country. He has also officially become the first-ever Filipino to break into Billboard’s Global Excl. US chart, debuting at the 138th spot.

In a tweet by Billboard‘s Philippines Songs Charts, Juan Karlos is only the fifth Filipino-made song to reach No. 1 on the charts. The charts, currently monitored and updated by the Billboard Global team, includes non-Filipino tracks that are also going viral in the country. These charts are separate from the all-Filipino charts that Billboard Philippines will be launching soon.

With that, here are the four other Filipino songs that have peaked at No. 1 on Billboard’s Philippines Songs charts.

First released in 2021, Zack Tabudlo’s “Pano” (How) started going viral during the creation of Philippines Songs charts in February 2022. It stayed at the top spot for 11 weeks, from February 19 to April 30. It remained on the charts for 30 weeks, making it the longest-reigning number one single of 2022.

In April of the same year, Tabudlo occupied the top three slots of the charts with “Pano,” “Habang Buhay” (Forever), and “Asan Ka Na Ba” (Where Are You Now). “Binibini” (Lady) charted in the top 10.

He continued to break his own records that month with six singles making it into the chart in the same week, with the songs “Nangangamba” (Apprehensive) and “Give Me Your Forever” joining the previously mentioned tracks. This makes Tabudlo one of the most record-breaking artists to ever make it into the Philippines Songs charts, across both local and international acts.

Adie and Janine Berdin’s “Mahika” (Magic) was first released in May 2022, and has stayed on the charts since then. It hit No. 1 on October 19 in the same year, staying at the top spot for two weeks. However, the song has continued to stay on the charts until now, tying with Nobita’s “Ikaw Lang” (Only You) as the longest-charting song ever on the Philippines Songs charts (68 weeks).

The song marked the first time a duet ever hit No. 1 on the charts. Berdin is also the first Filipina to ever do so.
