Madonna and Charli XCX are joining forces for the first time with “Danceteria Afterhours,” a new remix of the track from the Queen of Pop’s Confessions II, dropping on September 24, 2026.
Co-produced by Madonna, Andrew Watt, Cirkut and Stuart Price, “Danceteria” is the third single from the Queen of Pop’s 15th studio record.
The song takes its name and inspiration from the Danceteria nightclub in New York City, which operated in the 1980s. The song features the Queen of Pop recounting her memories and experiences with friends from that era.
Days before the official announcement, Madonna teased the remix and shared a snippet of the track on Instagram with the caption, saying, “Let’s take it to the East side baby……,” and the video flashing the text: “You wanna talk about Madonna and Charli?”
According to a press release, the song is “a celebration of the fearless beginnings and influences that shaped each artist’s singular paths.”
After the release of Confessions II on July 3, the Afterhours edition was released a week later. It contains a remix of “I Feel So Free” by South Korean DJ Peggy Gou and a remix of “Bring Your Love” by Price, among others.
This marks the second remix of the song, following the reworked version by Harry Romero released in August.
The release of the collaboration arrives just before the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards (VMA), where Madonna leads with 13 nominations, topping her then-record of nine back in 1990 and 1998.
Alongside the release on streaming, “Danceteria Afterhours” will also be available on three limited-edition CDs and can be purchased on Madonna’s official online store.
