Filipino alternative R&B and psychedelic jazz fusion act OZO are back with their sophomore EP, At Your Door, released through Locked Down Entertainment.
The Manila-based band’s five-track EP explores the different stages of a relationship in a non-linear progression. “Each track occupies its own emotional space while carrying traces of the stages that come before and after it, giving listeners room to either observe the relationship from the outside or find themselves somewhere within it,” according to the press release.
“Online,” the opening track, and “Sweater,” kick off the EP with the feeling and intense rush of infatuation, first impressions, and the pull toward commitment.
“There, There,” on the other hand, focuses on the intimacy that lingers through quiet moments — one that feels tender and reassuring, yet is tested during periods of lowness.
“Recall” brings the idea of looking at the relationship as moments where you have to decide whether to move forward, look back, or stay where you are.
Finally, the closing and title track, “At Your Door,” reveals the space where love and loss are present. The lyric “Do you think I don’t think about you?” is a plea to recognize that both sides are hurting.
In a nutshell, the EP goes through the stages of an undefined relationship, where experiences vary, emotions are all over the place, and moments become pieces that linger long after the connection is gone.
