With the release of 1989 (Taylor’s Version) out in the world, Taylor Swift has broken numerous records across the board –– including that of her own on the Billboard’s Philippines Songs Chart. Aside from occupying numerous spots on the Top 10 of the Hot 100 and Global 200 charts, Swift holds seven new positions on the Philippines’ songs chart, extending her record for the most amount of hits with 31 tracks in total.
Additionally, the release of 1989‘s re-recording has also lengthened her overall record to 58 songs that have made it on the chart, which has gone above and beyond as the most entries on the chart by any artist (local or international) ever. Swift’s presence on the Billboard Philippines’ songs chart has been constant since the release of her tenth studio album Midnights last year, with her tracks from various records allowing her to chart for more than one whole year in the chart’s Top 10 –– marking the longest stay by an international artist on the chart.
With Swift’s series of re-recordings, they have effectively devalued the original recordings such as in the case of the original 1989 which dropped 44% in sales and streams during the week of the Taylor’s Version’s release. As it stands, 1989 (Taylor’s Version) became the biggest-selling album in terms of overall and pure sales of 2023 already since its October 27 drop, also breaking the modern-era single-week vinyl sales record in history –– an honor which she already held previously with Midnights.
Elsewhere in the world, Swift also occupies the top spots in the United Kingdom and Australia. She currently holds the number one position in the Official UK Albums chart with 1989’s re-recording and with ‘Is It Over Now‘ in the UK Singles Chart, also claiming the top spot on the ARIA’s Albums Chart and Singles Survey.
The Philippines Songs chart comes as one of Billboard’s country-specific music charts, which ranks the most streamed song every week in a particular region or country. This is different from Billboard Philippines’ music charts which are set to launch soon.
