Typecast and Urbandub are no strangers to playing together and sharing the stage, having done so extensively over the years. Most notably, just last October 2024, they served as special guests for Australian rock band Hands Like Houses’ first Manila show, alongside fellow Filipino veteran act Greyhoundz.
Typecast were formed in 1999, and are best known for their hit songs “The Boston Drama,” “Will You Ever Learn,” “Another Minute Until Ten,” “Last Time,” and more. Since the band’s formation, it has come out with a total of four full-length albums, with the latest being 2011’s How Your Influence Betrays You. Last August 2024, the band came out with a new single, entitled “Slight.” It served as its first release in five years since “Mulat Na Mata” — their first ever Tagalog song, which came out in March 2019.
Last October 2024, Typecast were featured on Billboard Philippines‘ first anniversary issue, where they discussed their 25 years of being together, the emo revival, the making of “Slight,” future plans, and more. Get your copy of the magazine now via SariSari Shopping.
Formed in 2000, Urbandub are widely known for such hit tracks as “First Of Summer,” “Evidence,” “A Call To Arms,” “Hover,” and more. They have a released a total of six albums since their inception, with the latest being 2013’s Esoteric. They went on hiatus in 2015 before reuniting in 2018 with new additions to their lineup. Last November 2023, they released their 2003 breakout album Influence on vinyl, which quickly sold out. A second pressing is available via Backspacer Records. In the same year, their current lineup also came out with Rebirth — a rerecording of the band’s debut album Birth.
Meanwhile, last August 2024, the band’s “classic” lineup — composed of vocalist and guitarist Gabby Alipe, guitarist John Dinopol, bassist Lalay Lim, and drummer JanJan Mendoza — held a special reunion show in Cebu, supported by Powerspoonz, Selah Dub Warriors, and Toothpeak.
