Last March 6 (March 7 Philippine time), NewJeans were the recipients of the Group of the Year Award at the recently-concluded Billboard Women in Music Awards held at the YouTube Theater in Los Angeles, California. They performed a medley of their songs “Super Shy” and “ETA.” In their acceptance speech, Hanni shared, “To be here today celebrating Women’s History Month and to participate in an awards show that’s just overflowing with such amazing artists is just really surreal and it’s hard to be in the same room as you all.”

“I just want to briefly thank all the artists here today because without your music, I don’t think we would’ve been able to grow up so inspired. Our love and passion for music is thanks to you all…To be part of the music industry today is something we don’t take for granted, and it wouldn’t be possible without the help of so many people and all the support we’ve received.”

At the same event, Philippine Popstar Royalty Sarah Geronimo was also honored with the Global Force Award, becoming the first homegrown Filipina to ever be awarded at the event. Following her awarding as the Global Force honoree, Sarah Geronimo was honored with the Woman of the Year Award at the first-ever Billboard Philippines Women in Music Awards. She is also featured as the cover star for the special Women in Music print issue, which is available now via SariSari Shopping.

NewJeans also performed at the Philippine Arena at last year’s Asia Artist Awards. Review their performance as well as the performances of Stray Kids, ITZY, SB19, and more here.
