KATSEYE have just released their highly-anticipated debut extended play, SIS (Soft Is Strong.)
The five-track record includes the previously released singles “Debut” and “Touch” alongside some brand new entries into their discography, which include “My Way,” “I’m Pretty,” and “Tonight I Might.” Altogether, the project serves as an excellent (and empowering) display of the varying sounds within the landscape of pop music — accurately channeling the era of the 2000s and 2010s pop scene (a la Little Mix and Britney Spears) with infusions of modern K-pop elements. With what they’ve managed to accomplish on the record, it proudly proclaims that this girl group is here to stay, as they continue to carve their mark on the global pop scene.
SIS (Soft Is Strong) only marks the beginning of what is to come from Sophia, Manon, Megan, Daniela, Lara, and Yoonchae, as the group is set to star in the forthcoming Netflix original documentary series Pop Star Academy: KATSEYE. The show is set to show the full journey of how this multinational girl group came to be, putting the spotlight on twenty contestants of The Dream Academy on their year-long journey to train and compete for one of the six slots of the group. Directed by award-winning filmmaker Nadia Hallgren (Netflix’s Becoming), the eight-episode series is set to debut on the streaming platform this August 21, 2024.
Just recently, the group performed at KCON Los Angeles — sharing the stage with the nation’s girl group BINI, as well as ENHYPEN, NCT 127, ZEROBASEONE, STAYC, Kep1er, and several other renowned K-pop acts. Their last single, “Touch,” has spawned a viral TikTok dance challenge that has continued to make waves all over the internet, with several artists (like both BINI and ENHYPEN) joining in on the fun.
