K-pop powerhouse aespa is back in the spotlight with their latest mini-album Whiplash, featuring the electrifying lead single of the same name.

The result of the highly anticipated comeback is a sleek and impeccably produced collection of tracks that are ready-made for the runway. Most evidently with its title track, this mini-album embraces an amalgamation of house, techno, and electronic influences that perfectly showcases why the group is on an entirely different level than their peers, given how unafraid they are to experiment within the confines of K-pop.

The music video for “Whiplash” showcases the quartet exuding confidence against a minimalist white backdrop, seamlessly transitioning into their razor-sharp choreography amidst flashes of red. Check it out below:

The six-track mini-album also features standout songs like “Kill It,” “Flights, Not Feelings,” “Pink Hoodie,” “Flowers,” and “Just Another Girl.” During a subtitled YouTube livestream just an hour before the EP dropped, member Ningning shared insights on the track, stating, “‘Whiplash’ is about not being confined by boundaries and boldly moving forward with our own standards.”

Whiplash marks aespa’s fifth mini-album, following the release of their first studio album Armageddon just four months prior, which delivered stellar hit tracks such as “Armageddon” and “Supernova.”

Earlier this month, the group treated fans with the release of their solo tracks as a special set of digital singles. Each of these tracks is part of their ongoing concert tour, SYNK: Parallel Line, which further showcases their dynamic artistry. Last month, the girl group wrapped up the Asia and Australia leg of the tour with a two-night show in Bangkok, Thailand, and will resume next January with shows across North America and Europe.
