Today (October 15), Billboard launched their latest international edition: Billboard Philippines. Welcomed with an event at Whitespace Manila, the celebration saw guests from all corners of the music industry, from veteran musicians and emerging artists to industry leaders and label executives — even Mike Van, Billboard President, and Gurjeet Chima, Associate Vice President for International Markets of Penske Media Corporation.
Opened with a spectacular performance by KZ Tandingan, Billboard Philippines unveiled all their multimedia platforms dedicated to bridging Filipino music and the world. This includes the print magazine, digital website, and media channels shows which include live performances series Studios and Soundwave, as well as a weekly podcast titled Volumes.
“We will promote inclusivity by embracing all forms and genres of our music. We will push for diversity by featuring artists across the nation stepping out from our comfort zones in the metro. Expect us to boost global collaborations for our artists and music to be discovered and rediscovered by the greater audience. And, we will be purposeful and publish content that is committed and supportive to the local music industry to promote Filipino culture through music,” said Anne Bernisca, Chief Operating Officer of Modern Media Group, Inc.
Billboard Philippines’ also unveiled Volume 1 of their print magazine, which revolves around the power of Filipino pop music. Gracing their own exclusive covers are SB19 and Regine Velasquez-Alcasid, which have continuously pushed the boundaries of pop music in their own respective ways.
