On this week’s iteration of the Billboard Philippines charts, several notable musical acts have been able to debut within the Hot 100 and Top Philippine Songs charts.

Soaring straight to No. 60 on the Hot 100 chart is alt-pop band Over October, whose latest single “Ikot” has managed to make its way around the hearts and playlists of millions of Filipino listeners. Though the group has found widespread success across social media platforms like TikTok with the track, what makes their entry a welcome one on the charts is that it marks their highest-charting release in their entire career, even including their tenure at Universal Music Group. Now, as an independent act, it goes to show that their artistry is brighter and more successful than ever.

Marking a surprise entry on the Hot 100 charts is Peabo Bryson’s “If Ever You’re In My Arms Again,” which enters at No. 73 on the Hot 100. Despite being released all the way back in 1984, it’s astonishing to see the longevity of the track and its resonance amongst Filipino audiences. Perhaps it may be the result of a recent wave of nostalgia amongst karaoke aficionados or balladeers making covers of the track, for its impressive debut on the Hot 100 charts may serve as an indicator of such trends in recent memory.

Mitski‘s 2023 hit single “My Love All Mine” from her seventh studio album The Land Is Inhospitable and So Are We also debuts on the Hot 100 at No. 87, marking her first entry on any Philippine chart rankings. The track, which found success and virality on TikTok, signified the Japanese American musician’s commercial breakthrough and has managed to bleed its way into the mainstream. Following closely is also Arthur Nery‘s “Pagsamo” at No. 93, which marks his second entry on the Hot 100 following his 2021 track “Take All The Love” which ranks highly at No. 26

Near the tail end of the Hot 100 is “Always” from Daniel Caesar, which holds the No. 97 position on the charts, following “Best Part” feat. H.E.R. at No. 51. The sleeper hit from his third studio album NEVER ENOUGH precedes another debut on the charts by just a few spots — Stephen Sanchez’s TikTok hit, “Until I Found You.” The ’60s-inspired ballad holds the final spot at No. 100, solidifying its longstanding reach to listeners since its 2021 release.

Beyond the realm of the Hot 100, Dionela and Jay R’s “Sining” makes its debut at No. 8 on the Top Philippine Songs chart, while Realest Cram & Enzo MF’s “Dikapamigay” enters as well at the No. 25 position of the chart. With the former’s growing popularity, there’s no doubt about its potential to climb even higher on the Top Philippine Songs chart within the next few weeks of chart tracking.
