SB19 member and solo artist Josh Cullen has shared his plans for himself, the P-pop genre, and the Filipino music industry as a whole. During an interview with Spotify, the musician was asked about what he hopes for himself in a year.

Mahirap ito kasi pag nag-iisip ako, sobrang ahead [This is difficult because whenever I think, it’s so far ahead],” Cullen said. He continued by answering about the local music scene rather than his goals for himself.

“Well may plans ako little by little, siguro not just for me but for the entire industry, na magkaroon na rin ng mas established pa ‘yung P-pop or let’s say the entire OPM industry. Next year, makapag-export pa ng mas maraming shows sa abroad [Well I have plans little by little, perhaps not just for me but for the entire industry for P-pop or let’s say the entire Original Pilipino Music industry to become more established. Next year, hopefully we can export many more shows abroad].”

Afterward, he mentioned his aspirations for his solo career. “For me personally, siguro magkaroon ng sariling [maybe have my own] concert and of course more songs.”

Afterward, Cullen was asked what he would advise his future self. He said to “stay productive.” “Mas maging organized. Kasi…kahinaan ko ‘yung pag-aayos ng mga damit, pagtutupi, mga ganon. Tina-try ko, pero nahihirapan pa rin ako [To become more organized because my weakness is fixing clothes, folding, stuff like that. I try, but I still have a hard time].”

On a more serious note, he said he wanted to improve himself as a music artist. “Marami rin kasi akong feeling ko kailangan i-improve din sa ugali and everything. Sana mas maging better person ako sa susunod, sa future [There is a lot I feel I need to improve in terms of attitude and everything. Hopefully I become a better person next time, in the future].”

Cullen concluded his interview with a reminder to his future self to never forget his roots. “I would remind my future self…remember where you started so you wouldn’t be lost siguro sa ilaw [maybe in the light], sa [in] fame, and everything. Tatandaan ko lagi kung saan ako nanggaling [I will always remember where I came from].

The SB19 member made his debut as a solo artist on February 24 with the single “Wild Tonight.”
