Typecast are back with their first release of the year, in the form of their latest single entitled “Rupture.” The brand new track was released by the Filipino emo/rock veterans on June 10, 2025 (Tuesday) via Tower Of Doom.
“Rupture” is notable for its heavy and haunting, shoegaze-leaning instrumentals, as well as lyrics tackling themes of dealing with pain and wanting to be freed from such misery. It serves as the follow-up to the band’s previous single “Slight,” which came out on August 16, 2024.
Notably, “Slight” was Typecast’s first release in five years, serving as the long-awaited follow-up to 2019’s “Mulat Na Mata” — the band’s first ever Tagalog song.
In other news, Typecast held a special show last February to celebrate the vinyl release of their 2004 album The Infatuation Is Always There. The show happened on February 17, 2025 at Viva Cafe in Cubao, Quezon City.
Meanwhile, last April, Typecast and fellow rock icons Urbandub began a joint tour to celebrate their respective 25th anniversaries. The tour kicked off with a Manila show at the New Frontier Theater in Quezon City last April 6, 2025. It was then followed by a show in Baguio, held last April 12, 2025 at the Baguio Convention Center in Baguio City.
