While some music fans listen to albums in its entirety and are familiar with every single track, there are other fans that pick out their favorite songs and listen to them on rotation — such is the case with HORI7ON.

With a group of 7, all with varying personalities, the members’ listening habits and favorite songs are worlds apart. From pop hits that are topping the charts to Filipino classics that continue to stand the test of time to R&B gems that fit every mood, the Filipino boy group’s music tastes are just as diverse as they are.

In our latest interview with HORI7ON, we sit down and talk about some of the music that soundtrack their days. From the albums they keep coming to to their go-to dance anthems, here is the music that shape the boys’ daily lives.

Billboard Philippines: What’s an album you have on repeat right now?

Vinci: Mine is The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess by Chappell Roan. She’s just a voice I think this generation really wants to hear because she’s very blunt with her lyrics, and she’s very intentional with everything. I think that’s something that everyone in this generation appreciates — the authenticity of her music.

Marcus: NEVER ENOUGH by Daniel Caesar, it’s like the best [album] ever. My favorite song at the moment is from that album, “Toronto 2014.” I feel like all seven of us have such different music taste, it’s going to be so different for all of us.

Kyler: I think right now, it’s KATSEYE — “Touch” and “Debut”. I love it.

What’s an album you keep going back to?

Marcus: Daniel Caesar’s Freudian. It’s quite mainstream, I love it so much.

Vinci: Mine’s Korean, it’s offonoff’s boy. That album is just Korean R&B perfection.

Jeromy: I really love grentperez’s When We Were Younger

Winston: I like “Nonsense” by Sabrina Carpenter, so that album: emails i can’t send.

What’s a song or album that inspired you to pursue music?

Marcus: Wachito Rico by boy Pablo. Honestly, not just that album, he, himself, made me really start writing my own songs and start making my own songs because of his style.

Kim: Yung Huling El Bimbo [by Eraserheads], favorite ko talaga yun. (Eraserheads’ Huling El Bimbo, it’s my favorite song).

Vinci: Of course, Blonde by Frank Ocean.

Marcus: Yes! My top 3 artists are Daniel Caesar, Frank Ocean, Brent Faiyaz, I love them.

Jeromy: I like “Dynamite” [by BTS].

What’s an album by a Filipino artist that you think more people should listen to?

Reyster: Ben&Ben. I don’t have a specific favorite album from them, but my favorite song is “Leaves”. The whole world should listen to Ben&Ben.

Vinci: Ourselves the Elves’ Geography Lessons. It’s an EP.

Winston: Sarah Geronimo po. Nakalimutan ko na po yung album, pero yung song “Sa Iyo” — favorite ko talaga po yun. (Sarah Geronimo. I forgot which album it is, but the one with the song “Sa Iyo” — it’s my favorite).

What’s an album you listen to when you feel sad?

Kim: Sa-akin po, anything by XXXTENTACION. (For me, anything by XXXTENTACION).

Marcus: Wait, that’s intense sad (laughs).

Kim: Pag sad kasi ako, dinadama ko talaga so mas malungkot yung songs ko. (When I’m sad, I really want to feel it so a lot of my sad songs are really sad).

Marcus: Mine is Frank Ocean’s Blonde, specifically the song “White Ferrari”.

Vinci: I usually turn into a Swiftie when I’m sad, so I listen to a lot of evermore

Jeromy: “Fighting” by BSS kasi parang kung makikinig ako ng sad songs, parang lalo ako na sa-sad so gusto kong maging happy. (Fighting” by BSS because if I listen to sad songs, I get more sad so I just want to be happy).

Vinci: For me, Square One, the first one they released with “Whistle” and “BOOMBAYAH”. Whenever I hear that intro, I immediately get up.

Marcus: Mine is Planet Her by Doja Cat, it’s such a good album.

Vinci: Guys, oh my gosh, it’s brat summer. So, of course Charli XCX’s brat

Kyler: Yun sa ILLIT din po, their debut album with “Magnetic”. (ILLIT as well, their debut album with “Magnetic”)

Winston: FRIEND-SHIP nalang sakin, guys (laughs). (I’ll just go with FRIEND-SHIP).

What’s an album you want to dedicate to ANCHORS?

            Kim: FRIEND-SHIP, of course.

Vinci: Of course, our first album. Wow, may alam na album — yung album natin! (laughs) (Wow, you know an album — our album!)

Kim: Yes, I want to dedicate FRIEND-SHIP to ANCHORS, not only because sa-amin yun, but also because may ibang-ibang colors dun that everyone can enjoy. May mga mellow songs, may mga lively songs so kahit ano man pinagdadaanan niyo, may song para po sa inyo.

(Yes, I want to dedicate FRIEND-SHIP to ANCHORS, not only because it’s our album but also because it has a lot of different colors that everyone can enjoy. There are mellow songs, lively songs so whatever it is you’re going through, there’s a song for you.)
