Jerms is soon to embrace her newfound journey as a solo artist.

Growing from her roots in the well-loved folk/pop band, The Ransom Collective, Jermaine “Jerms” Choa Peck is ready to embark on a new chapter with her solo debut single, “Alay sa Gabay.” The feature, set for release on November 22, is the first of a three-part series building up to the artist’s EP release, which was produced by Kashira.

Positioned as both a percussionist and vocalist for The Ransom Collective, Jerms has tried her hand at many fields within the creative industry. Following her work with the folk six-piece, she immersed herself into the world of theater productions with Dekada ‘70 and has appeared in various films and commercials. The multi-faceted artist also recently made her directorial debut with the experimental short film Ocean’s Reverie, a meditation on the beauty and healing power of the ocean.

In a previous feature with Billboard Philippines, the members of The Ransom Collective delved into the pursuits their individual ventures as they’ve been geographically separated. In this story, Jerms herself explained, “We continue on that journey but have gained more experience, traveled the world, met more people, [and] listened and exposed ourselves to new music. I think this has made us more open to the music we can make as a band. I like to think of this as our exploration stage, and just finding what fits for us as a band.”
