Leah Halili is back with a new single.
On November 7, the indie pop singer-songwriter — also known for being the co-vocalist and bassist of indie-folk troupe The Ransom Collective — came out with a new single entitled “When The Day Ends.” It follows Halili’s previous singles released in 2024, including “Change” released last January 13, and “river by the sea” released last July 19. She first announced its release last October 20.
In a press statement, the track is described as “a poignant exploration of love and longing that resonates deeply with anyone who has ever missed someone special.” It is “inspired by the bittersweet experience of being separated from a partner across different time zones,” effectively capturing “the essence conveying a powerful message of hope and connection” through lyrics that are inspired by Halili’s personal experiences.
Sonically, “When The Day Ends” is a “dreamy blend of indie-pop and shoegaze,” notable for its “lush instrumentation and emotive vocals.” It was produced by Zsaris, engineered by Nick Lazaro, and mixed and mastered by JP Del Mundo, with them and Halili working through time zone differences to produce the track’s final output.
While Halili has stated that she no plans to hold any live performances for now, she is currently in the process of preparing for the release of her debut album — an eight-song release due to come out sometime in February 2025. It “promises to delve even deeper into themes of love, connection, and the complexity of human emotions.”
