Taiwanese math rock band Elephant Gym are heading back to Manila this December 16 at Balcony Music House in Makati.

The show is part of their world tour for their upcoming album, World. The tour will kick off with a show in Hanoi, Vietnam and will stop over in Ho Chi Minh, Taipei, Osaka, Tokyo, Houston, Los Angeles, Mexico, Vancouver, Seoul, Lisbon, and more. The World album also marks their 10th anniversary as a trio.

Elephant Gym will be joined by local indie rock band, Musical O. Tickets went live yesterday (November 13) and are priced at P1,200 for the limited pre-sale and P1,500 for regular admission. Interested attendees can purchase tickets here.

The band, composed of members KT Chang, Tell Chang, and Chia-Chin Tu, was formed in 2012 in Kaoshiung. Elephant Gym have released three full-length albums and a number of EPs over the years. The trio have been critically acclaimed both in Taipei and abroad, receiving nods at Taiwanese music awards show, Golden Melody Awards; a performance at SXSW 2022 in Austin, Texas; and a spot on NME’s Best Asian Albums of 2022.

In NME’s list, they wrote, “After two LPs and two EPs, the Taiwanese trio Elephant Gym were well-established as a force in the wonky, dexterous field of math rock. On their third album, ‘Dreams’, they range widely in search of fresh adventures.”

Elephant Gym first performed in the Philippines at The Rest Is Noise’s All of the Noise festival held in 2018.
