SEVENTEEN member DINO is set to debut as his alter ago PI CHEOLIN with the release of his first mini album, 吉BOARD (Gilboard), on August 3.

The announcement arrived on May 11 through a talk-show themed interview uploaded on SEVENTEEN’s official YouTube channel, formally introducing the youngest member’s solo persona. Portrayed as the eccentric producer and CEO of the fictional Korean entertainment company, BOMG, PI CHEOLIN has previously appeared in several comedic SEVENTEEN content, first making his debut during the group’s 2021 SEVENTEEN in CARAT LAND fan meeting.

Over the years, the character has become a fan-favorite among CARATs for his over-the-top humor, retro styling, and satirical take on the K-pop industry. He also notably performed alongside SEVENTEEN sub-unit, BSS, further cementing his popularity among fans.

Scheduled for release on August 3, 吉BOARD (Gilboard) marks DINO’s first official project under the PI CHEOLIN persona. The EP’s title combines the Chinese character “吉” (gil), meaning “auspicious” or “lucky,” with the English word “board,” referencing Billboard US charts.

Playing homage to a 1990s Korean street music ranking culture, the EP references vendors blasting trending songs in the streets to sell bootleg cassette tapes. Songs that were played most frequently were often considered for their genuine public popularity rather than televised ranking or album sales.

Debuted in 2015, DINO is a member of K-pop boy group SEVENTEEN, along with members S.COUPS, JEONGHAN, JOSHUA, JUN, HOSHI, WONWOO, WOOZI, DK, MINGYU, THE8, SEUNGKWAN, and VERNON. The group is widely recognized for hit tracks “VERY NICE,” “HOT,” “Super,” “Left & Right,” and “Don’t Wanna Cry.”
