In a surprise announcement made today (February 22), SB19’s Justin De Dios revealed that he will be making his solo debut with “Surreal”. The single will be released on February 29, 2024.
The announcement was made through a cinematic trailer with the caption: “When one sees light with eyes closed, then your heart has found its purpose.” The trailer sees De Dios in a lush forest and stumbles across a mysterious mask.
This announcement comes after the singer most recently released a cover of Maroon 5’s “Sunday Morning” last month. De Dios, who also acts as SB19’s creative director, has previously directed several of the P-pop group’s music videos including “Hanggang Sa Huli”, “What?”, and most recently “WYAT? (Where You At?)”.
He comes as the latest SB19 member to release solo music, following Josh Cullen, Pablo, and Ken (who also goes by Felip). Most recently, Pablo released his latest single “Determinado” and “AKALA” alongside brother and fellow collaborator Josue, while Cullen released a remix of his 2023 single “GET RIGHT” featuring Yuridope, and Felip joined forces with hip-hop act PLAYERTWO for their tracks “FLYYY” and “Pagdali”.
As a whole, SB19 embarked on their PAGTATAG! World Tour last year, in celebration of their latest EP of the same. The EP comes as their first release under their self-established company, 1Z Entertainment and marks a new era for them as a group.
