P-Pop Kings SB19 and celebrated Filipino-American rapper Apl.de.Ap have joined forces for their first collaboration, “Ready.”
The track was released today (May 31) and follows the group’s collaboration with international producers Ian Asher and Tyler Zhong, “MOONLIGHT.” “Ready” was produced by Black Eyed Peas’ longtime collaborator, Keith Harris. “Harris did an amazing job blending pop music influences with electronic music elements, dance music, and Afrobeats,” shared Apl.de.Ap in a press release. Radkidz, the production duo consisting of SB19’s Pablo and his brother, Josue, assisted in the production of the track.
“We never got the chance to record together in a single booth, but Apl.de.Ap was such a great guy to work with. It’s an honor to collaborate with a global superstar of his caliber. We’ve learned so much from his generosity and creative feedback,” SB19’s Justin shared in a press release.
Stell further added that learning a different genre was a good exercise for the group, “It was something new for the group. We appreciate the chance to delve into new genres and production styles that come with unfamiliar territory. But with Apl.de.Ap at the helm of the creative process, we’re just blessed to take on this assignment. It’s not every day that you get to work with an artist you look up to.”
On June 27, Apl.de.Ap announced the release of the track’s music video through a short teaser, showcasing the SB19 members in sports cars alongside clips of the famed rapper on a luxury yacht. The music video is set to premiere this June 28. Watch this space for updates.
In other news, the group recently concluded their PAGTATAG! world tour with a finale concert series at the Araneta Coliseum. In our review of the concert, Billboard Philippines wrote, “While goodbyes are typically difficult, the end of the PAGTATAG! era felt more like a celebration. The last year tested the limits and strengths of SB19 and their fans in more ways than one, and their finale concerts served as a cathartic victory. “SB19 pa rin tayo [We’re still SB19.],” said Josh during the concert, alluding to the internal struggles that the band faced last year.”
