Johnoy Danao has just proven that he’s a certified Bloom.

The beloved folk musician shared a cover of BINI‘s “Salamin, Salamin” over the past weekend, winning over his fans and fellow Blooms over with his rendition of the chart-topping P-pop hit track. In his version, Danao reimagined the song as a slower, heartfelt ballad that places a stronger emphasis on the emotional weight of its lyrics, conveying an entirely new sonic ambiance than its original rendition.

Since the two days of its release, Danao’s cover has already amassed over 1.6 million views, earning nearly 250 thousand likes since then. The video also garnered praise not only from his fans, but also from two of BINI’s members, Colet and Maloi. Colet responded to the video with a set of teary-eyed emojis, while Maloi commented, “Parang nag-relapse ako bigla… CHAR thank you po Sir Johnoy Danao!” (“If ever I relapsed suddenly…just kidding! Thank you, Sir Johnoy Danao!”)

Just recently, Danao’s debut album Dapithapon was reissued on the vinyl format for the first time by Backspacer Records, having been mastered for vinyl by Shinji Tanaka at Kodama Studios. It was also announced that he would be performing at the Miss World Philippines 2024 Coronation Night at the SM Mall of Asia Arena this July 19, 2024, at 8 PM. In 2023, he also released his latest single “Buti Na Lang.”

On the other hand, BINI has had a busy year so far — having released their first EP, Talaarawan, and their latest international single “Cherry On Top,” while also embarking on their BINIverse Tour both nationwide and across North America.
