After three years, Autotelic are finally coming back with new music this year.
The “Laro” hitmakers are set to release their latest single “Hahayaan” this August 30 – their first one since “Iwan,” which came out on June 11, 2021. The forthcoming single also marks their first release under Yellow Room Music.
In a press statement, “Hahayaan” is described as the alternative-indie rock group staying true to their “signature sound,” as they offer a “danceable experience while introducing a darker undertone that marks a departure from romantic themes that have been pervading the local pop music scene.” It promises to showcase Autotelic’s “evolution and artistry as they venture into fresh sonic territory.”
To celebrate the release of “Hahayaan,” Autotelic will hold an “intimate soft launch” event that features a special Q&A session at Minsan Studios in Quezon City this August 29. It promises a evening filled with “music, discussion, and a glimpse into the inspirations” behind the brand-new track. Immediately after this, the band will also hold a single launch gig to celebrate the release of the single at 123 Block in Mandaluyong City the following day on August 30.
Formed in 2012, Autotelic is composed of vocalist and guitarist Josh Villena, bassist Ted “Pabs” Vargas, keyboardist EJ Edralin, guitarist Neil Tin, and drummer Gep Macadaeg. The band released their debut album Papunta Pabalik in 2016. They are best known for such hits as “Laro,” “Takipsilim,” “Ikaw,” “Languyin,”and more.
