ALAMAT Premiere New Music Video For ‘Dayang’ — Watch

ALAMAT have dropped a new music videoMusic VideoA short film that accompanies a song, combining performance, storytelling, and visual style to promote the music. The P-popP-PopShort for Pilipino pop, a movement of Filipino idol groups and solo acts who combine pop music, choreography, and polished production for local and international audiences. P-pop has grown quickly,Go to P-Pop Glossary boy group premiered the visual on YouTube on March 26. “Dayang” is part of their album, IsaPuso, which was released in November of last year. The music video features Filipino love team Kyosu Guinto and Jaja Disuanco, known together as “KyoJa.”

ALAMAT are known for their distinct sound and composition, as they are comprised of members from different ethnic groups in the Philippines and release songs that include different Filipino languages. In an exclusive interview with Billboard Philippines, they talked about how they prepared as a group to platform different Filipino cultures.

“Bago pa kami magsimula, and kami habang na sa daan papunta dito sa kung na saan kami ngayon, nagri-research siya. Walang katapusang pagri-research about kung paano magbuo ng boy band. ‘Yung mga pino-produce namin na kanta, paano ‘yung mga kwento doon na about sa Philippines, Philippine history, sa mga instrument. Lagi siyang nagri-research and nagtatanong sa mga tamang tao [Before we started and on the way to where we are now, Laxamana [director of ALAMAT] was researching nonstop about how to form a boy band. This spans all of the songs we produce, the stories we tell of the Philippines, its history, and its instruments. He’s always researching and consulting the right people.],” member Tomas commended.

They also went behind the making of IsaPuso, where group leader Taneo revealed that the album took a year to complete.

“Wala kasing specific na standard operating procedure talaga [There is no specific standard operating procedure to begin with]… For instance, for one song, iba naman ‘yung ginawa namin [we did a different process]. ‘Dagundong’ itself, actually the demo was sent to us by Thyro [Alfaro]… We studied our parts and all that. We recorded it. But on some songs, parang hindi ganon din ‘yung process, parang iba-iba po sila [the process was different for each one of them].”
