The Philippines’ one and only King of R&B Jay R has made his debut appearance on the Billboard Philippines Studios stage.
Studios is the platform’s flagship show that showcases the biggest and most celebrated artists in the Filipino music industry as they create exclusive and reimagined versions of their biggest hits. In this episode, Jay R performs new renditions of “Parachute, “Blessed,” “Bakit Pa Ba” (Why), “I Got A Girl,” and “Tonight.” His wife, actress and singer Mica Javier, joined him in performing his last song.
Jay R’s episode follows Ben&Ben’s episode on the show. The nine-piece band performed “Courage,” “Autumn,” and one of their earliest tracks, “Leaves.” Ben&Ben were recently announced as the cover stars for Billboard Philippines folk issue, where they talked about the unique storytelling that defines Filipino folk music.
In other news, Jay R recently premiered his collaboration with Regine Velasquez-Alcasid titled “Eyes Only For Me.” The track is the first collaboration between the two, and features a new side of Velasquez-Alcasid as she leans into an R&B style of singing. Listen to it here.
