Acoustic singer-songwriter Rhodessa makes her first appearance on the Billboard Philippines stage in this week’s episode of Soundwave.

The weekly show, which premieres exclusively on TikTok every Monday, showcases the hottest hits in the Filipino music scene right now. On the episode, Rhodessa performed her hit “Kisame” (Roof), which currently has over 85 million streams on Spotify. The song also clinched the Wish Ballad Song of the Year at the recently concluded Wish Music Awards.

In an exclusive interview with Billboard Philippines, she shared that the song was actually inspired by the K-Pop girl group TWICE. When recounting her exponential rise to the mainstream, she wrote, “Mahirap nung una…hindi ko pa rin akalain na andito na ako. Everyday gumigising akomakikita ko yung name ko sa charts kasama ng mga iniidolize ko dati” (It was difficult at the start…I still can’t believe that I’m here. Everyday, when I wake up, I see my name on the charts together with the people I used to idolize before).”

Medyo nahanap ko na yung sound ko” (I think I’ve more or less found my sound), she says to end. “I’m thankful for the opportunities [I’ve gotten].” Rhodessa will be performing alongside ALAMAT, Arthur Nery, Adie, Rob Deniel, Janine Teñoso, and mrld at Viva’s ILYSM Concert happening this February 13 at the SMART Araneta Coliseum in Cubao, Quezon City. Tickets range from P400 for general admission to P4,200 for SVIP. Check out more details here. Last week, fellow Viva artist Janine Teñoso premiered her latest single, “Hulaan,” on Soundwave as well.
