Throughout the year of 2023, Republic Records continued its dominance in the music industry –– securing the top spot in Billboard’s year-end label rankings for the third consecutive year in a row. Leading in Top Labels, Billboard 200 Labels, and Billboard Hot 100 Labels, Republic Records was able to set a remarkable achievement. The label has triumphed on the Top Labels tally in seven of the last nine years, and also as the top Hot 100 label in 10 of the last 12 years.
Throughout the tracking period from Nov. 19, 2022, to Oct. 21, 2023, the label boasted 75 albums on the Billboard 200 chart, with 40 in the top 40, 21 in the top 10, and eight at No. 1. Republic’s remarkable feat includes claiming six of the year-end top 10 Billboard 200 Albums, a historic achievement not seen since 1956.
In the year-end list of the top 10 for 2023, Republic has Morgan Wallen’s One Thing at a Time (at No. 1, via Big Loud/Mercury/Republic), Taylor Swift’s Midnights (at No. 2), Drake and 21 Savage’s Her Loss (at No. 4, via OVO Sound/Republic), Wallen’s Dangerous: The Double Album (at No. 5, via Big Loud/Republic), Metro Boomin’s Heroes & Villains (at No. 6, via Boominati/Republic) and Swift’s Lover (at No. 9).
Additionally, Republic dominated the Hot 100 chart with 172 entries, 98 top 40 hits, 29 top 10s, and five No. 1s. For the second consecutive year, Republic secured the year-end No. 1 Hot 100 Song with Morgan Wallen’s “Last Night” –– with this success marks Republic’s continued influence on the music landscape, solidifying its position as a powerhouse label.
Just earlier this week, Republic Records swept thirty of the thirty-five wins that Universal Music Group won at the 2023 Billboard Music Awards. Their artists Swift, Drake, and Wallen garnered the most number of wins throughout the show, with the latter winning eleven awards such as the prestigious Top Hot 100 Artist, Top Male Artist, Top Hot 100 Song, and Top Billboard 200 Album awards.
