Filipino music goes beyond trends.

Or at least, that’s what these songs have proven. With 20 weeks of being on the Billboard Philippines Top Philippine Songs Chart (dated November 16, 2024), these chart-toppers have transcended their title of viral hits, and have become everyday Filipino anthems.

Whether they’re fresh drops or well-loved classics, these 11 tracks have established legacies of their own, defining this year of Original Pinoy Music. From TJ Monterde’s beloved duet with his wife KZ Tandingan, to the evergreen classic of Up Dharma Down, these songs have stood the test of time.

No. 1: “Palagi” – TJ Monterde, KZ Tandingan

As an ode to true love and commitment, this chart-topper has inhabited the Top Philippine Songs Chart for 20 weeks straight, scoring its top position since last month in October. When explaining his creative process behind the beloved hit, TJ Monterde said in a previous exclusive interview with Billboard Philippines, “It’s actually a song that I dedicated to her, of course. It’s one of those songs that you don’t really think about writing, but you just write.” He added, “It’s puso talaga. It’s very straightforward. Parang naging sobrang, sobrang open ako na I don’t really care if people might think this is cheesy or whatever.” (It’s really just heart. It’s very straightforward. I became so open that I don’t really care if people might think this is cheesy or whatever.) This raw and authentic storytelling has evidently touched the hearts of millions as the song continues to dominate the charts.

No. 3: “Dilaw” – Maki

Maki’s 2024 has been well-defined by some of his smash hits, but we really can’t get over “Dilaw.” With this viral sensation, Maki became the first Filipino artist to hit the top spot on both the Hot 100 and Top Philippine Songs charts. In a previous collection of interviews conducted by Billboard Philippines, a number of local artists named “Dilaw” as their favorite release of the year. Even R&B hitmaker James Reid himself doted on the feature: “Locally, one song has been on my mind, on repeat — ‘Dilaw’ by Maki.”

No. 7: “Tingin” – Cup of Joe, Janine Teñoso

Cup of Joe and Janine Teñoso made a definitive work out of their collaborative piece, “Tingin.” The earworm is undeniably catchy, with its well-crafted composition and relatable lyricism. The song initially broke into the Top 10 of the Top Philippine Songs Chart last August, and has yet to make its decline.

No. 8: “Tadhana” – Up Dharma Down

Music has no expiry date, and Up Dharma Down’s well-loved discography is a testament to that. “Tadhana” has been the karaoke staple for every Filipino household following its release back in 2012, and still continues to trend on the charts today. Additionally, the indie-electronic band has recently commemorated its 20th anniversary with dropping a collection of shirts, saying, “This partnership and friendship, spanning over two decades, highlights our musical journey of constant artistic evolution.”

No. 10: “TAKE ALL THE LOVE” – Arthur Nery

Soul singer-songwriter Arthur Nery’s “TAKE ALL THE LOVE” has marked its 20th week on the Top Philippine Songs Chart. The song’s downbeat tempo, coupled with its deeply emotive lyrics, captures the essence of vulnerability and unreserved passion. Written entirely in English, it breaks away from traditional OPM ballads, blending soulful melodies with modern production. He recently used the anthem to close off his second solo concert at the Araneta Coliseum last October 25.

No. 13: “Mahika” – Adie, Janine Berdin

Adie and Janine Berdin’s collaboration in Mahika encapsulates a dreamy soundscape filled with emotion and vulnerability. With its poetic lyrics and gentle melodies, this track has resonated with many listeners who find themselves drawn to its message of the mystical pull of love. Since debuting in the charts last year, Mahika has proven to be a mainstay, often featured in heartfelt playlists and consistently showing its enduring charm.

No. 15: “Walang Alam” – Hev Abi

Hev Abi’s well-defined dominance in the local music scene has been well-proven with his viral hits, just like “Walang Alam.” Through multiple fan edits and the like, the song has maintained its strong virality on TikTok and other social media platforms. Being a defining work for the downtown Quezon City-hailed rapper, it’s no wonder the track continues to hold a strong presence on the chart after 20 weeks, connecting listeners who appreciate its relatability and depth.

No. 16: “Salamin, Salamin” – BINI

BINI’s Salamin, Salamin” is a testament to their growth as P-pop idols, blending powerful vocals with relatable themes. With its danceable beats and catchy chorus, “Salamin, Salamin” not only highlights the group’s vocal prowess, but also their ability to deliver music that uplifts and energizes their fans.

No. 18: “Saan?” – Maki

Maki’s emotional pop ballad “Saan?” shows a different side to the hitmaker, resonating with anyone who has faced moments of uncertainty and hearbtreak. The song’s heartfelt delivery, combined with Maki’s distinct vocal tone, has positioned it as a powerful anthem for introspection. Its poetic lyrics and haunting melody have kept it on the charts for weeks, proving that Maki’s impact this year goes beyond mere commercial success and has become a legacy of its own.

No. 22: “Babaero” – gins&melodies, Hev Abi

Hev Abi and gins&melodies joint work on “Babaero” has captivated audiences with a fun yet honest portrayal of complicated relationships — a topic rarely touched upon. The signature mid-tempo beat hasn’t been able to get out of our heads as the chorus is sure to latch onto whoever listens to the smash hit. The distinct voices of both artists create a compelling dynamic, which has secured the track a spot on the charts and in the hearts of listeners.

No. 24: “Pantropiko” – BINI

Being their breakout smash hit, BINI’s “Pantropiko” serves as a summer anthem (that goes beyond the season) that takes listeners on a musical journey to a tropical paradise. The song’s infectious energy is sure to bring all its listeners to their feet and dance along to the viral beat. BINI’s harmonious vocals and engaging performance have kept the song alive on the charts, showcasing their versatility as performers and reinforcing their place as one of the strongest acts in the P-pop scene.
