Iconic American boy band *NSYNC has just made their debut on the Billboard Philippines charts (dated August 9, 2024) with their 2000 hit, “Bye Bye Bye.”

One might wonder why the track suddenly appeared at the No. 81 spot on the Billboard Philippines‘ Hot 100, but its standout use in the opening scene of the recently-released superhero flick Deadpool & Wolverine reintroduced the song to a whole new generation of listeners. The resurgence of the track isn’t isolated to the Philippines alone, as “Bye Bye Bye” has been meme’d and shared across various social media platforms all around the world — with Billboard also noting that there is a strong possibility it may see a return to the US Hot 100 charts given its current trajectory.

“Bye Bye Bye” first appeared on the Billboard charts upon its initial release in the year 2000, eventually reaching a peak position of No. 4 on the chart’s rankings. However, this catchy pop song isn’t the only track from Deadpool & Wolverine that’s charting within the Hot 100, as The Goo Goo Dolls’ “Iris” since the debut iteration of the charts earlier this June. The track reached a new peak of No. 65, jumping seventeen spots from its spot last week at the No. 82 position.

Beyond *NSYNC’s iconic hit, other notable debuts within the Billboard Philippines‘ Hot 100 chart include Kiss of Life’s “Sticky,” Dionela‘s “Okishina,” Rhodessa‘s “Kisame,” Taylor Swift‘s “August,” and James Reid‘s “Randomantic.”

Billboard Philippines Hot 100 ranks the biggest songs in the country, based on streaming data (both audio and video) collected by data provider Luminate. The chart encompasses tracks by both Filipino and international acts. The Hot 100 is one of Billboard Philippines‘ official music charts, alongside the Top Philippine Songs chart. Both charts will be updated weekly every Wednesday.
