American rapper Travis Scott joined Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and John Cena for the shocking ending of WWE Elimination Chamber in Toronto, Canada, on March 1 (March 2 Philippine Time).

After Cena won the men’s Elimination Chamber match, securing a spot in the WrestleMania 41 main event for the Undisputed WWE Championship against reigning champion Cody Rhodes, a segment featuring Scott, Cena, and The Rock set fans in attendance and on social media ablaze.

The GRAMMY-nominated rapper accompanied The Rock to the ring in an electrifying entrance that featured a remix of his song ‘FE!N.’ Before the event, The Rock demanded that Rhodes “sell his soul” to him and become his corporate champion, with an answer awaited at the end of the show.

Rhodes declared that he had sold his soul to the wrestling ring and the fans a long time ago, turning down The Rock’s offer to form an alliance. As expected, the fans erupted. However, what happened next was the definition of “we did not see this coming.” As Cena embraced Rhodes, The Rock gave an order reminiscent of Palpatine’s Order 66. Cena turned on Rhodes with a vicious beatdown in a shocking heel turn, 20 years in the making, using a microphone, a Rolex watch, and the WWE title as the crowd watched.

Fans have long called for Cena to turn to the dark side. However, as WWE’s poster boy for many years, the company refrained from making this decision. But this felt like the right time as the 16-time world champion is in the final stretch of his career and on his farewell tour. He aims to break WWE Hall of Famer Ric Flair’s record of 17 world championships, with a win against Rhodes at WrestleMania 41 only elevating his Hall of Fame-worthy career.

As this unfolded, Scott stood in the ring and went sicko mode, joining Cena in the brutal attack on Rhodes. He did not hold back, however, as he hit Rhodes in the face with a heavy right hand. Although he may need to learn the proper way to throw a punch in the world of pro wrestling, it looks like this won’t be the last time we see Scott in a WWE ring.

At the post-show press conference, The Rock hinted at plans for Scott’s involvement in the company, saying, “I feel like professional wrestling has always found its unique place in culture throughout the decades […] I feel like with Travis, he loves the business and loves pro wrestling. He’s a culture guy. Travis Scott is already one of the greatest of all time. He’s a GOAT, a legend, an icon—he loves the business.”

Earlier this year, Scott accompanied WWE Superstar Jey Uso as he made his entrance through the crowd on an episode of Monday Night Raw in January. His song “4×4” is also the show’s current theme song.
