Offshore Music celebrates a decade of fostering creative freedom, honing up-and-coming talent, and championing collaboration with the launch of a five-part documentary series — the Offshore Music PH 10th Anniversary Docuseries.
Set for monthly release on YouTube from May to September 2025, the Offshore Music 10th Anniversary Docuseries features archival footage, candid interviews, artist testimonials, and a behind-the-scenes look at the label, its management team, its artists, and the community that has supported them throughout the years.
Founded in 2016 by CEO and OPM rock legend Ely Buendia, Offshore Music has consistently upheld its artist-first philosophy, staying true to creative authenticity and cultivating artist communities.
The docuseries highlights the independent label’s growth and legacy, pushing the boundaries in all aspects of the local music scene — from music production and branding to vinyl-collecting culture and artist development.
“Managing to last this long and being able to do what we want and being true to our principles definitely makes it sweeter,” Buendia shares in an official statement.
On the matter of finding the exciting wave of fresh talent, Pat Sarabia, A&R Director of Offshore Music, adds, “We like to push artists that introduce something new and interesting to the local music scene. We don’t use online following or stream count as criteria to sign an artist.
“We listen, determine the artist’s positioning in the landscape of the scene, and build from there. We encourage them to hone their craft by providing feedback, cultivate connections within and outside our network, and support their (sometimes) crazy ideas,” she adds.
The five-part docuseries debuts with “Episode 1: One Vision, One Product,” which revisits the label’s humble beginnings, highlighted through a roundtable discussion among the board members. It further sheds light on the label’s vision and its championing of vinyl records in an era where digital streaming is king.
“I think we’ve shown the industry that it’s possible to have fair contracts and collaboration that benefit both the
label and the artist,” Offshore Music General Manager Audry Dionisio shares.
“Episode 2: Championing Artist Growth” looks into the label’s pioneering roster of artists, while “Episode 3: Board Member Reflections” offers a glimpse into the strategic decisions, financial risks, and other factors involved in sustaining an independent label. Both episodes will be released in June and July 2026, respectively.
The final two episodes, scheduled for release in August and September 2026, are “Episode 4: Artist Stories,” which features perspectives from Offshore Music artists, and “Episode 5: The Epilogue,” which looks into the label’s future plans.
Apart from the challenges and obstacles the label has braved, the docuseries also celebrates important milestones in its history. Notable achievements include the first pressing of the Ultraelectromagneticpop! vinyl by Eraserheads, forming partnerships with global companies, and assembling an internationally recognized roster of artists.
“We’re just avid fans of music and will continue to contribute to the betterment of OPM,” Buendia says.
