Madonna is in full force in her latest era as she releases Confessions II – The Film on YouTube, the accompanying visual piece for her upcoming 15th studio album of the same name, on June 8, 2026.
Directed by David Toro and Solomon Chase (TORSO), the global release follows the film’s premiere at the 2026 Tribeca Film Festival at the Beacon Theatre in New York City last Friday, June 5.
The film follows a chaotic night out that spirals through themes of obsession and desire, filled with ambushes, worship, and pursuit that ultimately circle back to the dancefloor.
The project continues Madonna’s connection to dance music culture, religious symbolism, and fashion. It harkens back to her 2005 album Confessions on a Dance Floor, the predecessor to her forthcoming record, while bringing its disco and electronic aesthetic into the modern age and Gen Z club culture.
The cast includes Archie Madekwe, Benedict Cumberbatch, Gwendoline Christie, Julia Garner, Kate Moss, Madonna’s daughter Lourdes Leon, Odessa A’zion, Richard E. Grant, Sabrina Carpenter, and Shygirl, all appearing as themselves.
Additionally, the Queen of Pop and LGBTQIA+ icon held a surprise concert in Times Square, New York, to celebrate Pride Month.
In collaboration with Grindr, the popular social and dating app for the LGBTQIA+ community, she performed songs from her upcoming comeback album Confessions II, along with hits from its predecessor. The performance also served as a promotional campaign for the album and its accompanying short film.
