Madonna releases her much-anticipated new single, “I Feel So Free,” ushering in a long-teased return with her forthcoming album, Confessions II.
First previewed through a surprise radio debut on PRIDE Radio, the song marks the official lead single from Confessions II, set to arrive on July 3 via Warner Records. The project also serves as a continuation of her iconic 2005 album, Confessions on a Dance Floor, reconnecting with the sound and spirit that defined a major era of her career. Anticipation for the follow-up has been building since 2023, intensifying recently when Madonna wiped her Instagram clean, signaling a fresh artistic chapter.
“I Feel So Free” explores themes of liberation, self-expression, and the joy shared through dancing. Crafted alongside longtime collaborator Stuart Price, the track leans into hypnotic repetition and airy vocals. The Queen of Pop delivers the lyrics on finding safety and freedom on the dancefloor with a mantra-like delivery.
The single arrives shortly after her surprise appearance at Coachella, where she joined Sabrina Carpenter during her headlining set. The blonde duo performed Madonna’s 1990 classic “Vogue” as well as Carpenter’s 2024 Short n’ Sweet track “Juno,” blending their respective generations of pop.
Her return to the music festival comes 20 years after her last Coachella performance, where she performed tracks from Confessions, further underscoring the full circle moment of her era revival.
The club anthem “I Feel So Free” is now available on major platforms, preceding the release of Confessions II, which is currently open for pre-save and pre-orders.
