John Williams To Score Steven Spielberg’s New UFO Movie

John Williams is confirmed to score the next film of legendary filmmaker Steven Spielberg, a science fiction UFO film distributed by Universal Pictures and slated for release in June 2026.

This marks the duo’s 30th film collaboration after working on Jaws, Jurassic Park, Schindler’s List, and Saving Private Ryan, among others.

At the event, John Williams: A Composer’s Life – A Night of Stories and Music, the news was revealed by Damian Woetzel, the president of The Juilliard School. It explored the works and celebrated the vision of the Juilliard alumnus.

Announced in 2024, Spielberg’s UFO film is based on his original concept with David Koepp writing the screenplay. He previously wrote the screenplays for the films such as Jurassic Park, Spider-Man, Mission: Impossible, and Zathura: A Space Adventure. The film stars Emily Blunt, Josh O’Connor, Colman Domingo, Wyatt Russell, and Colin Firth. Professional wrestlers Chavo Guerrero Jr., Lance Archer, and Brian Cage will also appear in the film.

Williams last teamed up with Spielberg for The Fabelmans, which was nominated for numerous accolades at the 95th Academy Awards such as Best Picture and Best Original Score for Williams. The legendary composer previously hinted his retirement in 2022 and that Indiana Jones and the Dial Of Destiny would be his final film as a composer.

However, he returned to his statement two years later in 2024 and said, “If a film came along that I was greatly interested in, with a schedule that I could cope with, then I wouldn’t want to rule anything out. Everything is possible.”
