Last August 4, the MOA Arena transformed into a vibrant stage for the Acer Day 2024 concert, which featured an unforgettable lineup of performances from Acer ambassadors and exceptional artists on the Filipino music scene. The event, hosted by Luis Manzano, attracted an audience of over 20,000 passionate musical aficionados — both in the arena and online via a Facebook livestream — bringing the magic of the night to screens worldwide.
Acer spared no expense to kick off what may very well be a mini-festival of its own, given that it displayed the wide variety of Filipino musical talents that perfectly represent some of the best and brightest acts on the scene. Yet of course, Acer Day is more than just a celebration of Acer’s core values — it stands as an electrifying testament to the brand’s commitment to innovation and connection.
This year’s Acer Day theme, “AI’m Limitless,” ignites a spirit of exploration and possibility, showcasing Acer’s latest products designed to enhance user experiences and unlock new potentials — just as the power of music holds with every performance that took place on the stage of the Mall of Asia Arena.
The evening kicked off with the dynamic pop and alternative band Cup of Joe, who set the stage ablaze with their infectious energy. Their performance of “Wag na Lang” was a perfect introduction to their artistry, and was followed by the captivating signature hit performance of “Tingin” and the evocative “Estranghero.” Each song served as a welcome demonstration that showcased the band’s unique ability to blend catchy melodies with heartfelt lyrics, which perfectly represents just how wide their appeal is to Filipino listeners.
Singer-songwriter TJ Monterde then took center stage, mesmerizing the audience with his soulful renditions of “Mahika,” “Tulad Mo,” and the chart-topping hit “Palagi.” Monterde’s emotional delivery and genuine connection with the crowd created a memorable highlight of the night, making thousands of listeners swoon to every crooning sound he evoked with his effortless stage presence.
The iconic Ebe Dancel followed, delivering a powerful performance that cemented his status as a legend in OPM. With hits like “Hari ng Sablay,” “Makita Kang Muli,” “Wag Ka Nang Umiyak,” and “Bawat Daan,” Dancel’s performance was akin to a heartfelt journey through his greatest hits — and with it he shared a touching moment of gratitude, recalling how the brand had supported him during the pandemic, making his appearance at the night’s festivities all the more poignant (and somewhat resonant).
Rico Blanco, the multi-talented Philippine rock icon, kept the momentum soaring with his electrifying set of resonant hits that enveloped the thousands of people in attendance. Blanco’s medley of “Antukin,” “Umaaraw Umuulan,” “Your Universe,” “Kisapmata,” and “You’ll Be Safe Here” was a testament to his versatility and enduring appeal — captivating the audience with every note. Yet for Blanco, the stage was merely one side of the show as he made the effort to go down and become one with the crowd, making for a memorable and endearing aspect of the night’s musical festivities.
The international sensation Sandara Park, alongside G22, took the stage with an exhilarating performance of her 2004 hit “In or Out.” This was followed by a stunning collaboration between Dara and SB19 on “Reset,” a track they created for Acer in 2023, which blended their distinctive styles into one stellar performance that exemplified their on-stage chemistry.
G22, known as the “Female Alphas of P-pop,” showcased their commanding presence with performances of “Boomerang,” “Bang,” “One Sided Love,” and “Loka.” Their charisma and dynamic stage presence underscored why they are leading figures within the P-pop scene — delivering a fantastic set of live vocal performances and inimitable choreography moves that paralleled the artistry of international heavyweights.
Sandara Park, whose iconic group 2NE1 is set to reunite later this 2024, continued to energize the crowd with her signature charisma and appeal with Filipino audiences — winning them over with a vibrant performance medley to some of her greatest hits, including “Dara Dara,” “I Don’t Care,” and “I’m the Best+Can’t Nobody.” Park further proved her longstanding resonance with the Filipino audiences, ensuring that her everlasting charm won over audiences all throughout the night.
Once the “Kings of P-pop” came onstage, the members of SB19 delivered a show-stopping set of performances with some of their biggest hits, such as “Gento,” “Hanggang sa Huli,” and “Crimzone.” The high-energy performances and standout magnetism from Pablo, Justin, Stell, Ken, and Josh had the crowd roaring with excitement — which was further amplified by the surprise appearance of rapper Gloc-9 on stage, wherein they delivered the debut performance to their then-unreleased track “Kalakal.” Yet beyond their much welcome surprise, their innovation and versatility stood at the forefront of the night, proving just how impressive they are in nearly every aspect.
The night culminated in a spectacular finale as SB19 and G22 united for a stirring rendition of “Limitless,” the theme song for Acer Day 2024. The collaboration, led by SB19’s Pablo, exemplified the limitless potential shared by both the artists and Acer — and marked a fitting closer to a night filled with fantastic performances and great music all throughout
Princess Laosantos, Senior Marketing Manager of Acer Philippines, encapsulated the night’s essence by stating “The concert and all the Acer Day activities highlight Acer’s AI-powered range of products, which not only elevate user experiences but also unlock endless opportunities.”
With such a phenomenal opportunity to watch a show such as the one that took place, there’s no doubt that the succeeding Acer Days over the next few years will be something to look forward to for avid music fans.
