Filipino multi-instrumentalist Gabba has officially been announced to perform at Singapore’s Baybeats, a three-day festival dedicated to featuring alternative music held from September 3 to 6, 2026, at the country’s Esplanade – Theatres on the Bay.
Now celebrating its 25th anniversary, the festival is Singapore’s largest and longest-running free alternative music festival that has attracted as many as over 60,000 attendees. Over the course of its run, the festival has featured local and international musical acts. Previously, it has invited Filipino acts such as Sandwich, Pedicab, One Click Straight, Chicosci, SOS, and Urbandub.
Announced on the festival’s social media, Gabba will officially be bringing his instrumental mix of ambience and avant-gardism to the festival’s fray this year. “Getting to play Baybeats for the first time, especially during its 25th anniversary, feels incredibly special.” The artist said. “It’s a festival I’ve looked up to for a long time because of how it brings together artists from all over the region.”
Gabba will be coming to the festival with his “Pockets” act. Releasing the single in 2024, Gabba released a reimagining of the track in 2025 with his EP Pockets (Perspectives), which further showcased the instrumentalist’s virtuosity, particularly with his explorations in the math rock genre.
Previously, he performed in Singapore in 2024 during the country’s Music Day Out festival. “That show is still one of my favorite live shows we’ve performed to date. Gabba shared. “The energy of that room that night was amazing and everyone was so welcoming and inspiring, and I’m looking forward to reconnecting with familiar faces, meeting new people, and discovering even more incredible artists from around the region.”
In the past, Gabba – full name Gabba Santiago – played in groups and collaborated with other musicians like Clara Benin, Reese Lansangan, and Rico Blanco. In 2020, however, he embarked on his journey as a solo artist, releasing his debut album, Recollections, in the same year. His most recent release, “Fall,” released on August 6, 2025, was made in collaboration with Singaporean singer-songwriter and producer Alicia DC.
