It’s the meeting of the Pauls. Paul McCartney opens up about his new album, The Boys of Dungeon Lane, with Academy Award-nominated actor Paul Mescal.
Mescal, who is set to play McCartney in the upcoming Beatles films directed by Sam Mendes, sits down with the Beatles legend for an intimate conversation in a short film exclusively released on Amazon Music.
“How do you feel about being interviewed?” Mescal asks McCartney. The conversation flows like a trip down memory lane with McCartney talking about the songwriting behind his 27th album, as well as memories surrounding his early life, parents, and bandmates as part of one of the most iconic bands of all time.
McCartney also talks about the other tracks on the 14-track record, including “Down South,” “Home To Us,” “Lost Horizon,” “Salesman Saint,” and “Days We Left Behind.”
The short film is directed by Scottish filmmaker Charlotte Wells, who made her feature directorial debut with the acclaimed 2022 semi-autobiographical coming-of-age film, Aftersun, with Mescal as Calum. The role earned him a Best Actor nod at the 95th Academy Awards in 2023.
The Boys of Dungeon Lane is set to drop this May 29. On the other hand, The Beatles – A Four-Film Cinematic Event will be released in April 2028.
Joining Mescal are Harris Dickinson as John Lennon, Joseph Quinn as George Harrison, and Barry Keoghan as Ringo Starr.
