Gab Cabangon returns with the release of his brand-new single, “Kama,” a soulful guitar-pop track that talks about finding comfort and solace in someone else’s arms after an exhausting day at work and a reminder that rest is a necessity.

In a press release, Cabangon talks about the inspiration behind the intimate love song he penned himself, saying, “I just wanted to write a comforting love song about how it’s okay to allow yourself to rest and lean on the people who matter. We live in such a fast-paced, demanding world, but we don’t have to face them alone. Sometimes, taking a pause helps us recharge before moving forward. ‘Hanapin mo ang iyong pahinga’ (Find your rest) as I would say.”

Produced by Cabangon and David Lina and mixed and mastered by Shadiel Chan and Jan Fuertez, the track also reflects the workplace culture, echoing the toxic culture of environments that prioritize productivity and grind at the expense of a person’s well-being.

Cabangon wrote the track one evening after work, feeling stressed out. As a way to process his thoughts through songwriting, he was also inspired by listening heavily to the songs “Kumot” by Solace Out the Door, “Tulog Na” by Sugarfree, and “Janice” by Dilaw.

“I’m not really known for doing these particular music styles, so I’m excited to see how people would respond. It’s definitely way less sadboi, but you’ll still feel the singer-songwriter vibe that was present in my last single,” he adds.

“Kama” also features backing vocals from Filipino singer-songwriter vydd and Kyla Miel Camerong of Solace Out the Door, along with additional harmonies by Angelim Cabangon’s wife.
