One Direction’s Louis Tomlinson and Zayn Malik are reuniting for a three-part documentary series on Netflix, which sees them go on a road trip across America — likely to premiere in 2026.
Directed by Nicola Marsh (Song Exploder, Stay on Board: The Leo Baker Story), the two will travel across America while they reconnect and reflect on the last couple of years. “The series offers a rare glimpse into the lives of two of the most famous, yet most private, men on the planet, as they open up about life, loss, and fatherhood,” the synopsis reads.
The currently untitled Netflix docuseries will be produced by Campfire Studios, which has previously worked on other documentary projects on the streaming platform, including Unknown Number: The High School Catfish, Smartless: On the Road, and America’s Sweethearts: The Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders.
Both Tomlinson and Malik were both part of One Direction from 2010 to 2015, alongside Harry Styles, Niall Horan, and Liam Payne. Fellow members Styles and Noran are currently not expected to appear in the series. Payne, 31, passed away in 2024 after he tragically fell from the third floor of a hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The members were seen together paying respects at their late bandmate’s funeral.
As a soloist, Malik has released four solo studio albums: Mind of Mine (2016), Icarus Falls (2018), Nobody Is Listening (2021), and Room Under the Stairs (2024). Tomlinson, on the other hand, has released two studio albums so far — Walls (2020) and Faith in the Future (2022), with a third album, How Did I Get Here?, set for release in January 2026.
