The official trailer for the upcoming Bruce Springsteen biopic, Springsteen: Deliver Me from Nowhere, gives us our first glimpse of Jeremy Allen White as the New Jersey-born music legend.

The musical drama is directed by Scott Cooper and based on the 2023 biography Deliver Me From Nowhere by Warren Zanes. It chronicles the singer’s rise before he sets his sights on global superstardom and working on his 1982 album Nebraska, which was recorded in his bedroom in New Jersey.

After his acclaimed television performances as Phillip “Lip” Gallagher in Shameless and Carmen “Carmy” Berzatto in The Bear, as well as his film performance as wrestler Kerry Von Erich in 2023’s The Iron Claw, White is gunning for an Oscar for his portrayal as the “Dancing in the Dark” singer.

Joining White in the cast are Jeremy Strong as Springsteen’s manager Jon Landau, Paul Walter Hauser as Springsteen’s recording engineer Mike Batlan, Stephen Graham as Douglas Springsteen, Odessa Young as Faye, Gaby Hoffmann as Adele Springsteen, Marc Maron as Springsteen’s producer and mixing engineer Chuck Plotkin, and David Krumholtz as Columbia record executive Al Teller.

Musical biopics or films focusing on real-life musicians have been on a resurgence as of late, with audiences being delighted with a spring of inventive storytelling and performances.

Timothée Chalamet channeled his inner Bob Dylan in an acclaimed performance in A Complete Unknown, Robbie Williams was a CGI chimpanzee in Better Man, Pharrell Williams’ life was retold in Lego form in Piece by Piece, and four Beatles solo films are set for release in April 2028,
