Yojiro Noda of RADWIMPS has officially been confirmed to have contributed music for the upcoming music-centric Japanese drama Glass Heart. The news was announced by the veteran Japanese rock band on May 22, 2025 (Thursday), revealing that Noda contributed the lyrics for “Senritsu to Kesshou” or “Crystalline Echo.” In addition, he has also written “a few more” songs for the series.

A Netflix original show, Glass Heart is based on the novel series of the same name by author Mio Wakagi, published from 1993 to 2011. The live-action adaptation will notably star Takeru Satoh (Rurouni Kenshin, First Love), alongside Masaki Suda (The Boy And The Heron, We Made a Beautiful Bouquet), Yu Miyazaki (Shotai, Lesson In Murder), Keita Machida (Yu Yu Hakusho, Fixer), and Jun Shison (Yu Yu Hakusho, 52 Hertz Whales).

The series tells the story of university student and drummer Akane Saijo (Miyazaki) after she is suddenly kicked out from her band just before their debut. Following this, she is then recruited by genius yet brooding musician Naoki Fujitani (Satoh) to join TENBLANK — the band for which he serves as vocalist and bassist. The show will follow them and their bandmates (Machida and Shison) while they navigate highs and lows of the music industry, as Fujitani deals with rival musician Toya Shinzaki (Suda).

Directed by Kensaku Kakimoto and Kotaro Goto and produced by Go Abe and Satoh himself, Glass Heart is set to come out on Netflix this July 31, 2025 (Thursday). Significantly, the members of the cast all committed to rigorous musical training in order to properly prepare for the show. Notably, Satoh himself has starred in other music-related live-action productions throughout his career. This includes Beck and The Liar And His Lover, the latter of which he also plays a genius musician and bassist.

In addition to the drama’s premiere, an album featuring the songs performed by TENBLANK will also be released on the same day through streaming platforms, while a physical release on CD will happen on July 1, 2025 (Friday). The record will contain a total of 10 songs, including “Crystalline Echo,” whose music was written by Masahiro Tobinai. Pre-save the album here.

The physical album will come in two types: a regular edition (JPY 3,850), as well as a limited first press edition (JPY 6,050) that comes with a Blu-ray disc that includes behind-the-scenes videos of the drama.
