Greyhoundz Tease Possible Final Show in October 2027
Three decades after their formation, Greyhoundz are teasing what could be their final concert — a last chapter for one of the Philippines’ most influential nu-metal bands.

Veteran Filipino metal band Greyhoundz are seemingly calling it a day in October next year, after 30 years of delivering their uncompromising brand of heavy rock.
The nu-metal quartet posted a 47-second clip on their social media accounts yesterday (August 11) consisting of snippets of live performances and music videos, with the words “GREYHOUNDZ 30TH,” “LAST HUHAAH!!!” and “OCTOBER 2027” appearing at the end. The caption of the post read, “May mga minsan na walang next time” (which may roughly mean “Sometimes, there won’t be a next time”) — an implication that it may be their final show ever.
Formed in 1997, Greyhoundz currently consist of vocalist Reg Rubio, guitarist Audie Avenido, bassist Niño Avenido, and drummer TJ Brillantes. One of the band’s founding members, guitarist Allen Cudal, passed away in 2004 in a car accident and was never replaced. Widely acknowledged as one of the Philippines’ “Three Kings” of nu-metal (the other two being Queso and Slapshock), Greyhoundz are widely regarded as pioneers of bringing the then-emerging subgenre (characterized by detuned guitar riffs over syncopated funk grooves, with vocals that are alternately rapped or screamed) to the local rock scene.
To date, Greyhoundz have released four studio albums — 7 Corners Of Your Game (1999), Greyhoundz (2001), Apoy (2005), and Execution Style (2009) — and an assortment of subsequent singles and collaborations that displayed an evolution in the band’s sound away from the usual nu-metal conventions. More recently, the band became the subject of Greyhoundz, an extensive photo book containing 20 years worth of images shot and curated by seasoned photographer Niña Sandejas and published by alt164 Press.
