Last May 2, Dumaguete City-based singer-songwriter Chelsea Dawn came out with an all new single entitled “Wishful Thinking.” This marks her second collaboration with The Midnight Greetings’ Redd Layne Odilao, the first being “Another Story,” which was released last January 1. Both releases are said to be part of a bigger project centered on themes of letting go, moving forward, and self-love.
As stated in an official press release, the early 2000s-reminiscent shoegaze track is about acceptance of parting ways with someone without harboring resentment. “It’s about realizing that even though love didn’t last, it wasn’t wasted,” the singer, whose full name is Chelsea Dawn Bureros, shares. “It was real, meaningful, and worth remembering.”
Chelsea Dawn is a solo singer-songwriter hailing from Bais City, who made her official debut in 2021 with a six-track EP titled Cambiando. Writing in both Bisaya and Tagalog, the rising artist has cultivated a following with her experimental indie sound and raw lyricism.
